Men Are Getting It!

By Clea Spahn

There is still a big difference when it comes to the women and men having cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery, but the number of men considering these options is increasing. Non-surgical techniques of improving one's appearance are becoming more widely accepted, and men have become more open about having them.

In most cases, men do not want these procedures to be obvious to people they know, so they do not want any recovery time that would mess with their busy schedules. It has become evident that men have been looking closer at their skin and noticing imperfections, they are interested in looking their best, as well as watching for signs of skin cancer. It's also easier to see that the more sun exposed are also the most aged and this is no surprise given the deleterious effect of UV light on the skin's elastic network.

The damage that is caused by the sun can be partially repaired and protected using advancements in skin care techniques. It's a simple thing to do after the daily shave with perhaps a bit of a top up at night before retiring.

Of the types of procedures available, men specifically seem to consider rhinoplasty. Usually it's the size of the nose that is the issue, but an uneven or crooked nose are also reasons for the procedure. A general anaesthetic is used in a typical day patient rhinoplasty procedure, and it's about a week until the patient is ready to work and for a couple weeks, there could be some bruising.

Men are more attracted to a procedure that will leave only minimal scars, so they also look at face lifts and neck lifts, and blepharoplasty. Usually, men prefer that these processes are not obvious at all. Mostly, men would prefer to have some wrinkles than have a major surgical procedure that would be obvious to their acquaintences.

No matter what some men seem to do to reduce fat in certain areas, like a good diet and active lifestyle, some of it seems to remain. An over abundance of fat appears on the abdomen or flank of men, and these are the main areas of concern. Men can usually return to work the day after having a liposuction procedure, as it's a day procedure that will help to reduce excess fat in these regions.

Accompanying this expanding interest in the muscular athletic male body is a desire for hair removal. Using the latest advances in laser technology, hair removal has become more and more effective in recent years. A series of treatments are required to each region and the procedure is best performed when the skin is not tanned.

Whatever men do, they tend to do it for reasons different from those of women. Men have to compete in their field of business, and appearance has something to do with this. Men want to look like a younger version of themselves, so it is recommended that men seek out a cosmetic surgeon who has experience working on men.
